I hear and read a lot about “transformation” these days. “How can we transform education?” “How will my organization transform learning?” etc.
“Nothing was pre-ordained, and very few if any of the innovators, no matter how great, foresaw how their work would eventually be used.”
By focusing on transformation, most of the people are left out of the game at the start.
Fostering self-directed learning provides students long lasting benefits in life beyond the classroom. I aim for a student centered classroom where they are challenged to strive for excellence while they reflect on where they’ve been, where they are, and where they are going.
